Salmons in Barcelona...
Volume II. 06

La Santa

Salmon is a fish climbing up the water, tracing its way colliding with other fish going down the river bed, dodging them, fighting against the power of the water that is pushing it towards the sea; all this, only to be able to leave its eggs, its descendants, its work, in a well-hidden corner where water springs from. There are restless salmons, lazy salmons, salmons that prefer to die than to stop, salmons that spend the whole day talking, other ones that stay quiet and contemplate, but all of them, they all end up going up the river’s bed running away from the all-same mass, which is for them what the sea has been converted to. For them, swimming against the tide, against what most of people erroneously think, is converted to the only way to survive.

Salmons in Barcelona has a scheduled appointment every year in order to place its spawn in good corners, in the hands of those who know how to appreciate the flavour of its work. Its pages review creators, designers, artists, all those who flutter above a world between two streams. In the previous issue, some salmons living in Barcelona were reviewed, people who work as designers, define themselves as such, but feel artists and often forget all about commissions in private, giving their most profound interests free rein. One year after, the fish returns to award us with its reproduction circle.

Its new issue focuses in the fashion world, another place where we can see some of those fish swimming -artists of all fields, graffiti people, photographers… creators from Spain or abroad living in Barcelona-, people not directly linked to the sector, but who start entering in it with the objective to fulfil some voids and superficialities and bring added values from the world of art: Julia Pelletier, Markus Gmür, Núria Rius, Rober Pallars, Mertxe, Paco and Manolo, Thomas Wagner, Roope Alho, Supa and C-lab Studio.
